A hand pump may be better than nothing, but you still have to work hard and waste time that you would’ve otherwise spent paddleboarding.
Inflating your SUP can be made much easier and faster with an electric pump. Sure, you’ll have to invest some cash for it, but it’s definitely a smart investment that will make a difference in the long run.
I got myself an electric pump, and there was no going back since then. In my personal opinion, the OutdoorMaster The Shark II electric pump blows everything else out of the water. Let’s explore this awesome SUP electric pump and why I’ve picked it as my favorite.
At a Glance:
The OutdoorMaster Shark does its job quite well. While many electric pumps can’t handle a heavy load, this one has proved reliable enough to make your paddle boarding trips more pleasurable.
Using this electric pump is a breeze; you’ll figure it out in a single minute thanks to the simple control buttons and the LCD screen used to display the PSI level.
Coming from an ex-hand pump user, I was impressed with what this electric pump can do.

Dual-Stage Inflation
The OutdoorMaster Shark features dual-stage inflation that ensures precise PSI levels. The first stage includes inflating the SUP at a high rate that goes up to 350 liters per minute.
Once the pressure starts approaching the maximum quantity, the 2nd stage kicks in. The pump works at a slower flow rate when it reaches the 2nd stage, allowing for precise PSI values.
Ergonomic Design
The Shark features a semi-elliptical design with a built-in carry handle that makes it easier for you to carry around. It’s also quite compact and lightweight, weighing just 3.6 lbs. This allows you to store it in your car or on a boat conveniently.
Actually, it’s so small that you can even fit it into your backpack, and it’s one of the main reasons why this electric pump is my favorite.
Not to mention, the pump is made of high-quality ABS material, giving it a premium and durable feel.
Speed
Depending on the SUP’s size, the Shark takes as little as 7 minutes and 30 seconds to fully inflate an SUP. Larger SUPs may require an extra minute.
Generally speaking, the Shark is one of the fastest electric pumps I’ve ever seen. Some pumps can take double the time the Shark takes to inflate an SUP.
Automatic Shutoff
The Shark shuts off automatically when it reaches the desired PSI reading. This allows you to prepare the rest of your gear while your SUP inflates without worrying about having to shut off the pump manually.
Outstanding Cooling System
One of the things that I really love about this air pump is its robust cooling system. Once the air pump starts overheating, the cooling system starts working automatically until the temperature goes down to normal levels. It takes just a couple of minutes for the temperature to go down.
Deflation
With the Shark, you can quickly deflate your SUP instead of waiting for it to deflate. I would’ve loved it if the auto-shutoff feature also worked for deflation, but then I’d be just nitpicking.
Versatility
The Shark is suitable for virtually all SUPs, so you don’t need to worry about special connectors or hoses.
Moreover, it comes with 3 valve connectors, including an H3 valve connector that’s compatible with most SUPs out there. You also have the option to use a Boston, C7, and a pinch valve.
And by the way, you can inflate up to 3 SUPs in a row, meaning that your friends can use it too so that nobody misses any of the fun.
Car Connector
With the Shark, you don’t have to worry about powering the pump up because you get a 12V car connector that allows you to do so using your car’s battery.
You don’t even need to connect it directly to your car’s battery with alligator clips; all you have to do is connect the cord like you’d connect your smartphone.
Noise
Just like other SUP air pumps, the Shark produces some noise. However, the noise levels are pretty acceptable. I’ve dealt with much louder air pumps that sound like an airplane engine.
PSI & LCD Screen
The Outdoor Master Shark is equipped with an LCD screen that gives you insights about the pump’s progress. It also makes it easier for you to set the desired PSI value, preventing you from accidentally over-inflating your SUP, which can rupture it.
On that note, don’t forget that each SUP has a recommended PSI level that ensures full inflation while also protecting the SUP from tearing. Even if you get away with a wrong PSI level, you may still experience problems on the water, like high drag, trouble in guidance, and improper floatation.
Some SUPs may require high pressure. Luckily, this pump can inflate those high-pressure SUPs flawlessly. The screen is quite clear and easy to read, even in direct sunlight.
Warranty
The OutdoorMaster Shark comes with a one-year warranty that covers manufacturing defects and premature failure of internal components. There’s also a 90-day return window. You won’t likely experience any problems with this pump, but a warranty is always good to have, just for peace of mind.
Certificates
The OutdoorMaster Shark has received several certificates for quality and eco-friendliness, including CA65 and CE certifications.
Price
The OutdoorMaster Shark is a bit more expensive than other air pumps in the same category, but personally, I think it’s worth the extra cash. Even if there are pumps that offer a similar performance level, you just can’t be sure that they’ll stay consistent in the long run, especially if they’re exposed to a high workload.

How I Tested It
I usually take specs with a pinch of salt. What really matters to me is the actual real-life performance, so I decided to try out the OutdoorMaster Shark myself.
To test it, I got 3 average-sized SUPs to see how it performs in the toughest scenarios. I inflated 2 of them to 15 PSI, and it took exactly 7 minutes and 15 seconds for the 1st one, while the 2nd one took 7 minutes and 30 seconds.
After inflating the 1st 2 SUPs, I had to let the pump rest for some time as it was starting to overheat. The cooling system kicked in instantly, and it took just a couple of minutes. Then, I started inflating the 3rd SUP, and it took just 7 minutes to be fully inflated.
The whole process took less than 25 minutes, which is quite impressive. The performance of electric pumps usually decreases after the 1st SUP is inflated, but the Shark was able to handle everything I threw at it quite easily.
To see how the OutdoorMaster Shark performs in the long run, I’ve continuously used it for more than 5 months, and I never noticed that the performance dropped by any means. Everything remained intact, and the powerful motor kept on going like a champ.
Frequently Asked Questions

The main difference between the Shark I and II is the heat dissipation system that was introduced in the Shark II. Additionally, the Shark II has a new fan inside. Other than that, both the 1st and 2nd generations are vastly similar.
