Unbiased reviews and in-depth research go into each and every review to ensure the best product for everyone.

INTEX is a brand that has been in the market for the last few years, and it has been doing really great. In fact, I have reviewed quite a few of its best inflatable kayaks, and they are pretty solid. Surprisingly, Intex has released the INTEX Professional Series Excursion Pro Kayak, and it’s a top-class product. I have been cruising with it for the past two months, and I’m really loving it. I will be sharing with you guys my experience with the Excursion Pro. I will be dissecting the various features and attributes of this kayak. Hopefully, you will be able to decide whether the Excursion Pro is a good choice for you.

Who Is It For?

I have spent a lot of time in this kayak, and I can tell that it is the best option if you are looking to spend under $200. Of course, this is a bargain considering that it is a 2-person kayak. I would happily fork out $300 to own the Excursion Pro. You should definitely get this beast and spend the next few months exploring the waters in your area.

Other than using it as an inflatable touring kayak, you can use it for fishing. It has plenty of space to store a cooler. It also comes with rod holders that you can use to secure your fishing rods. Besides, it has a removable mounting bar that you can hold your fish finders and other gear. This is definitely the type of kayak you should always carry when you go camping and expeditions. Of course, everyone wants to have fun in the lake, river, and seas every time you go camping.

I am simply saying that purchasing the Intex Excursion Pro Kayak is a great idea if you love spending time outdoors. There is no doubt you are going to love it in this kayak. Other than that, I have discussed its various attributes below. Make sure you compare these attributes with the Explorer K2 Kayak as well.

Comfort

The Intex Excursion Pro is one of the inflatable kayaks that are designed to provide incredible comfort. This kayak will support your body without experiencing any numbness. Besides, you won’t be stuck in a single position like you would have with the normal kayaks. So, what makes this vessel more comfortable than other models?

Intex Excursion Pro Kayak footrests

For starters, the Intex excursion Pro feels just like you are sited on an inflatable mattress. This means you will be very comfortable since you will not be seated on a hard surface. Secondly, this boat comes with two adjustable seats that have an ergonomic backrest. These seats should also be inflated, so you can only imagine the level of cushioning they will provide to your back. The kayak also comes with one removable seat booster that helps in increasing comfort, as well as raising the seat. These two seats are fitted with buckles that lock the backrests in place. This prevents the seat from moving or rocking.

Apart from the adjustable seats, the Intex Excursion Pro Kayak comes with two adjustable footrests. The footrests will come in handy to improve your comfort levels. You have to fix them in the right position, and your legs won’t become numb. Of course, the position you will choose depends on the length of your legs.

Performance & Durability

Even without going deep into the details, I can assure you that this kayak will give you value for money. With the performance that the Excursion provides, I can confidently say that this kayak is a steal. It should be priced way higher than its current market price. Enough said! I will just let the performance and stability aspects do the talking, and you’ll decide if the Excursion Pro is worth the money.

As I mentioned earlier, everything in this kayak is solid except the paddles. For instance, this vessel is made from high strength 30 gauge vinyl material that has been laminated with a polyester core. This construction allows this inflatable kayak to serve you for years without being affected by tear and wear. Besides, this material doesn’t get affected by saltwater, oil, sunlight, impact, gasoline and abrasion. You can also increase its durability by using it on calm water bodies. Avoid using on places that will accelerate tea and wear.

The performance of the Intex Professional Excursion kayak is top-notch. It is evident that this kayak has been built to provide high levels of stability. Propelling the Excursion Pro does not require many skills. Moreover, you don’t have to worry about tipping over because the vessel is wide and stable enough. It will take more than 400 lbs to destabilize or sink this kayak. I am pretty sure you can do a lot with an inflatable kayak that has a capacity of 400 lbs.

The kayak also comes with 2 skegs that contribute a lot in terms of maneuverability and tracking. One of the skegs is shorter, thus making it ideal for shallow waters. With these skegs, you will be able to steer your boat and change the direction quite easily.

Easy To Set Up

Just like most inflatable kayaks, setting up the Excursion pro is a Breeze. You actually don’t require any skills to get this vessel working. Besides, it comes with everything you require to complete the setup. Each section of the kayak has spring-loaded high-pressure valves that allow for quick and easy inflation and deflation. Talking of inflation, the package comes with an awesome hi-output pump as well as a pressure gauge. The gauge will let you know when you get to the pressure.

Once you’ve inflated all the sections, setting up the adjustable seats, footrest and the mounting rod will be a walk in the park. Even a first-timer will be in a good position to set up the kayak without making any errors. The entire set up process should take less than 10 minutes.

Generous Storage

If there is one reason you should purchase the Intex Excursion Pro Kayak is the generous amount of storage it provides. You will have more than enough storage on the stern and bow. Besides, these areas come with stainless steel D-rings for tying down waterproof bags and gear. The kayak also comes with two integrated fishing rod holders.

    Hello

I have purchased an Intex Excursion Pro. I have had it out on the lake with great success. I am planning on taking the kayak out on the Bow river south of Calgary to transport me from one fishing run to the next. The river is rated as Class 1 with some fast moving water and a few very small rapids. I wanted to know your thoughts on how this kayak would perform in this kind of water.

  2. It’s a great boat to float the Bow. Go with the shallow skeg. Best to focus on paddling, then when you see a nice run, pull up your Excursion onto the shore, then get out and wade. I found that once I stopped paddling and tried fly fishing, the current would push against the skeg and spin me around like a leaf on water. I ditched the flimsy Intex paddles and use two piece Carlisle Magic Mystic 230cms.
