Where do People Volunteer
Sports clubs dominate formal volunteering in sport, with 75% of formal volunteers and over 80% of formal volunteer hours. Not surprisingly, the largest sports for volunteering include those that are large in participation.
Football dominates in both the number of volunteers and the hours of volunteering, with over 400,000 volunteers and nearly 100 million volunteer hours contributed each year. Cricket is second on both measures, but only generates 28 million hours.
