Coach Development Programme

The general aim of the courses and workshops identified on this page are to enhance and develop the existing knowledge and skills of coaches and club members within local sports clubs.
 
This rolling programme of generic courses will not only benefit coaches individually, but also strengthen the infrastucture of existing clubs by offering training on relevant topics to its volunteers.
 
The courses described on this website are relevant to any club looking to develop, particularly those clubs who are working towards their sport specific or Sport England Clubmark accreditation. 


It is essential that coaches attend the following four courses as part of the minimum operating standards: -

  • Good Practice & Child Protection - Within 6 months
  • 4 Hour Emergency First Aid - Within 6 months
  • Equity in your Coaching - Within 6 months
  • Coaching Disabled Performers - Within 12 months

Good Practice and Child Protection

Learn to protect yourself, the young people you are coaching and your employer, by understanding and following good coaching practice. Learn about child abuse and how to handle situations if you have concerns. This course provides you with a nationally recognised certificate and is an extremely hot topic in today's society.

Equity in your Coaching

Everyone should have access to sport, regardless of gender, age, race, ability, faith or sexual orientation. As a coach, you have an important role to play in ensuring this happens. This workshop will help you apply and extend your existing skills to meet the needs of present and potential participants. 

Coaching Disabled Performers

Develop your own coaching knowledge and skills to coach disabled players through inclusive and separate coaching sessions. Discover new ways to adapt equipment and identify appropriate safety and medical considerations to meet your players needs.

Introduction to Long Term Athlete Development

This workshop highlights the importance of structured coaching pathways from a young age through to adulthood where athletes identify their specific sports. Long Term Athlete Development will have a huge impact on the way we coach our talented performers and this workshop will supply you with the most advanced coaching methods to date. 

A Guide to Mentoring Sports Coaches

Mentoring is a powerful tool in the education and development of sports coaches at all levels. This workshop will help you as a mentor to support coaches learning. It also benefits your role as a mentor, can help to develop your mentoring profile and increase the effectiveness of your mentoring relationship by developing practical mentoring skills.
