Providing access to sport across the region

Year 1 Outcomes

Nationally the Government and Sport England will be measuring the retain target of 60% (young people to attend 6 out of 10 sessions). Locally the HSP have been focussed on ensuring this retention target is achieved as well as targeting semi sporty young people and planning for sustainability beyond the 10 weeks activities. At the end of year 1 the comparison between national and Humber retention rates looks like this:

  • National retention rate = 79 %.
  • Male and female retention respectively = 51.4% to 48.6%.
  • Age split was Yrs 1 – 6 = 32 %, Yrs 7 – 11 = 59 % and 16 – 19 yrs = 9 %.

In comparison the Humber has achieved:

  • Humber retention = 56 %
  • Male and female retention rates, respectively = 82 % to 18 % females.
  • Age split was Yrs 1 – 6 =12 %, Yrs 7 – 11 = 63 % and 16 – 19 yrs = 25 %

This clearly demonstrates the Partnerships commitment to striving to engage and retain young people who are 11 yrs plus which is much harder challenge.
