School Sport
The overall aim of PESSCL (PE School Sport And Club Links Strategy) is to enhance the take-up of sporting opportunities by 5-16 year olds.
By 2008 the aim is to increase the percentage of school children who spend a minimum of two hours per week on high quality PE and school sport within and beyond the curriculum to be 85%.
The initiative was further enhanced in December 2004 when the Prime Minister announced a new ambition to offer all children at least four hours of sport every week at least two hours curriculum PE and an additional two to three hours beyond the school day.
PESSCL in action
