Harry, 11, and Hamish,14 , both pupils from King Edward School in Louth, have been recognised by SportsAid for their sporting excellence and have been awarded funding, which is now going to enable them to compete in the French Open next month, Hamish said: “Being sponsored by the Grimsby Institute and SportsAid has definitely helped with us being able to compete, without this funding we wouldn’t be able to compete in European
tournaments and it also helps us to pay for coaching and travel costs.”

Since 1997, SportsAid has focused on giving awards to able-bodied and disabled athletes aged 12 to 18, and the Grimsby Institute of Further and Higher Education offers match-funding, to the successful athletes who are nominated for awards. SportsAid representative, Tom Lennon, said: “This is the only major funding partnership we have in the region and it’s great for us to be able to form these links with the community and help athletes
like Harry and Hamish receive the recognition they deserve.”

The Grimsby Institute’s Executive Director of Marketing and Student Recruitment, Hugh Callaway, is looking forward to seeing how the duo progress over the next few years, Hugh said: “The Falconer brothers are the reason that the Institute offers sponsorship to local individuals and groups, in conjunction with SportsAid. They are a shining example of how important it is for us to nurture the talents of tomorrow and I wish them all the best for the French Open next month and look forward to hearing of their triumphs when they return.”
