Coaches

Coaches across Britain contribute daily to the success of sport from grass roots participation to the very top of international competition.  A great coach like a great teacher inspires, motivates and leads.  They have a range of skills and knowledge which is called upon daily to make the experience of coaching special.

At the Humber Sports Partnership we wish to help you on your journey as a coach whether  you are looking to make a career out of coaching, You are a club coach balancing the needs of your club members with the skills you have at hand or you wish to aspire to become a performance coach.

We have developed a Coach Education program to help you on your journey and we have developed a coach provider network for Hull. But we want to do much more.  Coachweb is a Humber wide Coaching resource designed to keep Coaches in Touch with opportunities, help us at the HSP understand what coach education courses are really needed by coaches on the ground and work with National Governing bodies to improve their service to coaches.

Coach Web will open up new opportunities for all registered coaches with relevant e- bulletins funding opportunities basic skills updates and  conferences open to registered coaches to the system completely free of charge.  You do not have to be a professionally  employed coach looking for work we wish all coaches to be part of the system.  So whether you  just taking your first steps in Coaching or you have been coaching for fifty years we want Coach web to be able to deliver value to you.  It cost nothing just the time to register on line.

Sport England and Sports Coach UK have rolled out a national program to help coordinate and improve coaching across England. In the Humber this means Sports Coach UK and Sport England are working with the Humber Sports Partnership and a range of partners through to 2012 to channel resources and opportunities to improve support to coaches at all levels by registering with Coach web you will be able to help shape that work.

Research has shown that across the Humber we have some significant skills gaps and shortages in relation to the provision of sports coaches and therefore the development of coaching has been identified as a key priority within the Humber sports partnership

“Sports Coaching is central to developing, sustaining and increasing participation in sport.  It drives better performances and increased success as well as supporting key social and economic objectives throughout the UK.  At all levels of society, coaches guide improvement in technical, tactical, physical, mental and lifestyle skills, contributing to personal and social development.  High quality coaching enhances health and well-being, promotes fair play and builds social cohesion and self-esteem.  Throughout the UK, great coaches help develop leadership and teamwork, transform organisations, change individual behaviour and improve quality of lives.  (Sports Coach UK, Annual Report 2007-08)”
