Active People 2 Results - Great Results for the Humber!!
A comparison of Active People Quarter 1 (mid-September to Mid-December) provisional results between the 2005/6 survey and the 2007/8 survey indicates an upward trend in sport participationand volunteering in the Humber.
Sport Participation
The number of adults (16+) in the Humber doing at least 3 days of 30 minutes sport and physical activity each week: This increased from 15.8% in Q1 of 2005/6 to 21.6% in Q1 of 2007/8 – an increase of 5.8 percentage points. This compares to an increase of 3.7 percentage points across Yorkshire and Humber as a whole, where the percentage of adults taking part in sport and physical activity at least three days a week rose from 17.7% to 21.4%.
Volunteering
The number of people spending at least 1 hour a week volunteering in sport has risen by 2.7 percentage points from 3.5% in Q1 of 2005/6 to 6.2% in Q1 of 2007/8. This compares to a 1 percentage point increase across Yorkshire and Humber as a whole, where the percentage of adults volunteering in sport for at least an hour a week rose from 4.6% to 5.6%.
Active People Survey 2 fieldwork started on the 15th October 2007 and will be completed on 14th October 2008, running for a 12 month period, as Active People 2005/6 did. The key difference between the 2005/6 survey and the 2007/8 survey is the overall scale of the survey. In 2005/6, 363,000 interviews were completed: 1,000 in each local authority in England, whereas in 2007/8 Sport England is completing 500 interviews for each local authority: a total of approximately 177,000 interviews in England.
