Providing access to sport across the region

What We Do

The Humber Sports Partnership is a partnership of key agencies committed to providing a high quality delivery system for people to benefit from sport across the Humber sub-region.

The HSP's Vision is:
 
"To enhance people's lives in the Humber sub-region by widening access to improved opportunities in sport and active recreation"
 
The HSP will achieve this through providing a co-ordinated approach to the development of sport, involving:
  • The engagement of all key partners, local authorities, governing bodies of sport and the local voluntary sector, school sport partnerships and key national/regional agencies such as Sport England, the Youth Sport Trust, Sports Coach UK, Skills Active UK and others
  • A focus on local needswhat type of local provision do we need in order to get more people active more often
  • Linking our work to the national plans for each specific sport (Whole Sport Plan) and translating those plans into what is needed in the Humbermore clubs, more coaches, more volunteers and more participants!

The HSP's overarching aim is to:
 
Increase participation in sport and active recreation
 
and

Widen access to sport for specific priority groups women & girls, people with a disability, people on lower incomes, black and ethnic minorities and older people

  • Work with NGBs to develop 'Player Pathways' for people to progress in their chosen sport
  • Coordination at a sub-regional level - investment,
  • Specific programmes i.e. Step into Sport, PESSCL
  • Engaging wider partners so 'sport plays its part' across health,community safety, economic & youth agendas
  • Improving the workforce - a workforce development plan to supportcoaches, volunteers and professionals
  • Quality information, improved marketing for sport and effective communication
  • Performance Management - continuous improvement
