Providing access to sport across the region

SportsAid – Achieving Through the Delivery System

In relation to the desired outcomes of the delivery system, SportsAid’s work has a significant impact in the following areas:

  • Working with approx 47 NGBs to build clear support pathways for people with sporting talent to achieve their full potential. Helping the
right athletes at the right time.
  • Lead agency working with 12-18 year olds (and up to 35 for disability athletes), an area that is not covered by any other organisation -
  •  Delivering the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme scheme ensuring a seamless, effective and efficient “ladder” of support for talent.
  • Addressing one of the main barriers to young talent staying in sport – funding.
  • Promoting sport to all – highlighting the achievements of young people in the local community and inspiring people to get involved in sport.
  • Providing emerging talent with a voice through our annual questionnaire and regular dialogue/involvement with events, newsletter and other promotional activity.
  • Pro-actively engaging with the commercial sector to source investment back into sport. Bringing new money into the system through other
sources such as events, grant giving organisations and donors.
  • Involving famous alumni of SportsAid to help support the cause and ultimately positively promote involvement in Sport.
  •  Ability to ring fence money allowing for partnerships with organisations to offer an effective “back office” in distributing funds to athletes whilst
adding value through other income generation and avoiding reinvention of similar schemes.
